Four years ago today Cody and I got married.
We've been through some major ups and downs
But today, I can say...
Cody, I love you more than I ever have
and I would marry you all over again.

mariah-isms

Lately, Mariah is really interested in everything related to getting married. She'll point to my ring and say, "Oh, mommy! Did you get married?"

Mariah has been to the doctor with me the last few times. She loves to hold objects up to anyone and everyone's tummy and she asks, "You hear a baby's heart beat?"

Ever since Cody brought Sleeping Beauty home on dvd, Mariah has been obsessed with Princess Aurora. She'll tell me, "I'm princess Aurora," and she'll dance around singing, "I know you, uh pah a drean," or "i know you, eyes uh so uhmilur a drean." The other day, i told her it was time to take a bath and she ran away yelling, "Phillip! My Phillip!" as if he would come to save her.

The other night, we were driving passed Trafalga (a mini-golf course with a castle). Mariah said excitedly, "Oh! Disneyland! I found it!"

For those of you who know Mariah, I don't need to tell you that she is one happy princess. Happy Ramahanukwaanzmas!

And now to come up with a name...

BOY or GIRL

K guys. I'm getting my ultrasound tomorrow to find out the sex of the baby. We might wait until Christmas to look at it though. We haven't decided yet. BUT if you want to put in your final guesses make a comment. We aren't giving out prizes, but you can have the satisfaction of knowing you were right which is usually fun. And you have a 50/50 chance, so.
I totally knew Mariah was a girl, but I seriously don't know on this one. I would love to have another girl just because I've done it before and I have a ton of clothes already. BUT i know i'll love a boy just as much and I'll learn how to take care of him just as well. And my sister, Melissa, says she has lots of boy clothes that i can have. So either way i'm good.

I think Cody thinks its a boy, he can correct me in the comments though if i'm wrong.

Halloween

We had such a fun Halloween! Mariah LOVES dressing up and she enjoyed seeing so many other people dress up as well.

Now it's worth it

Today i heard the heart beat and i had to fight back the tears. I feel connected to the baby now and i finally feel like all the nausea and fatigue was worth it. I love hearing that heart beat for the first time. It hasn't been for nothing--there's a BABY growing in there! i remember the day Mariah was born, when i forgot every second of pain the first time i heard her cry. I'm excited to do it all again with this new one.

Today while Mariah played in the bath i told her it was time to wash.

Mariah: No!
Me: Do you want to smell like Cinderella?
Mariah: yeah!
Me: k then you have to wash
Mariah: k
After washing for a second

Me: OK, time to wash your bum
Mariah: Cinderella bum!

Greetings from a 2-year-old

Lately Mariah has been greeting strangers by pointing at them with a scowl on her face saying "YOU!" I don't know where she got it. I've been trying to teach her other ways to greet people. I taught her to shake my hand and say "Nice to meet you." So today, she kept coming up to me, shaking my hand and saying "Nice to EAT you."

Well, Mariah is going to be a big sister.

I'll act more excited when i'm out of the sick stage. i am excited though.

Gar-yen

Although technically this isn't our first year together that we've planted a garden, it is the first one that we've stuck with and taken care of. We are pretty proud of ourselves too considering this spot of earth in our landlords backyard was just a pile of weeds and trash in May. Thanks to (Cody's) Dad's rototiller we got it ready to plant and stuff actually grew. Mariah loves working in the "gar-yen" and so far we have enjoyed enormous zucchini, cucumbers, daily fresh basil, peppers, and tomatoes. Here is what it looked like last week:

Monet to Picasso Art Exhibit

This weekend we went to the Monet to Picasso exhibit in Salt Lake. I have been to the New York Metropolitan and the Louvre but I don't think i was experienced enough to appreciate that art. This time was different. I got emotional when i saw Monet's original works of art. I've always enjoyed prints of his work, but there is something different about seeing the original. It's much like the difference between listening to a recording of music and hearing it live. I highly recommend going to this exhibit. I think it runs through September.

Laura is graduated!

Hey everyone! I officially graduated from BYU today. Don't feel bad about missing it because I did too! i just wanted to let everyone know that i'm done and it feels AWESOME!

Oh AND, i'm quitting my job too. I should be done by the end of the month! So i will soon be a very free woman.

POTT•E

This morning Cody asked Mariah if she wanted to go see the movie WALL•E, something she has been very excited for. Every time she sees a trailer for it she imitates the robot voice saying, "LaaalleEee." So of course she wanted to go. But there was a catch. Cody told her she had to go potty on the toilet if she wanted to go see it. I didn't think it would work because thus far she's refused offers of pink milk, chocolate and pretty princess panties, but she agreed. Mariah sat that little bum on her Dora toilet for about 30 minutes until she actually went potty! We all were so excited. After that, all Mariah could talk about was LaaaalleEeee all the way to the theater.

Disneyland

Well, we just got back from our first family trip to Disneyland. We all had a very fun time. I just wanted to post a few pictures from our trip with hopes of more to come.

Utah Symphony

Cody got me tickets to Beethoven's 7th for my birthday. Although I had to wait until February 2nd to use them, it was well worth it. Beethoven's 7th is my favorite symphony and I have wanted to hear it performed live for years. It was absolutely amazing and I hope to return soon! I encourage all of you to take the time to enjoy the Utah Symphony
