Liam Lately (from other website archives, 7/2/2011)

I haven’t posted since Cody switched our blog over so...we’ll see how this goes.

Liam is still insane but cuter than ever.  Still keeping us in stitches.
here’s what he’s been up to:
-going #2 on the potty since february but still going #1 in his pull up most of the time.
-still in love with his binky but only uses it to sleep!  It’s awesome actually cause he’s really excited about nap and bedtime.
-loves to play pretend with Mariah, mom and dad.
His favorite games are lions (with Daddy) puppy with Mommy (Mommy is the puppy) and “supah heeyos and supah viw-yins” (super heroes and villains) with anybody.  And he’ll play just about anything with Mariah all day long.  oh and he plays robots. He’ll push a button on his head or tummy and make sound effects.   And usually what ever he is playing it involves standing on the windowsill and jumping off onto our bed
-he loves anything related to firefighting.  He loves the end of the movie Annie because there are “fiya fiduhs!”  He has a fireman hat and loves to get his hose and save everybody.  And he thinks firefighters are the ultimate heroes....if daddy can’t save us and the superheroes can’t save us...the firefighters can.
-he loves coins. whenever he finds one he carries it around all day calling it his “yucky peh-yee”  (lucky penny)
-He says
“pih-yee pease” in his sweetest voice while clasping his hands to the side of his cheek and batting his eyes.  It’s very hard to resist.
-he calls himself “yiam” and it’s way cute.

Lately  i’m always surprised by the words he knows.  The other day we were driving to Costco and he says,
“Mommy, Costco make me nervous.”
“Costco makes you nervous? Why?”
“cause the big machines.”  i’m guessing at the check out when he and Mariah are in the cart and i’m on the other side of the big machine.  I don’t know.  But i didn’t know he knew what nervous means.
he just seems to be aware of everything that is going on.  he’s always listening, when we think he’s not he’ll chime in and comment on the subject.  He’s is very aware of other people, for a 2-year-old anyway.  He always makes sure Mariah gets a treat if he gets one.  he’s really good at sharing.  Don’t get me wrong, i don’t think he’s perfect, but i’m his mom and i think he’s awesome.

Broken Bone

On Friday while playing with cousins at my mom's house, Liam fell off of a chair. I didn't see it happen so I only had reports from my nephews to go off of, and all they saw was that he fell off and hit his head. Liam cried and cried for about 20 minutes before he gave me any hints about where the pain was. He started holding and favoring his right wrist. I decided to take him in to the after hours pediatrician. Cody met us there where Liam put weight on his wrist and it buckled under him.
While the doctor looked at him he didn't make a peep (the doctor's office is the ONLY place that ever happens). The doctor splinted it and then sent us the the hospital to get x-rays where liam was also very cooperative. It was a long night but his wrist was indeed broken. Stitches and a broken bone before the age of 2. This kid is going to cost us a lot of money I'm afraid.

THe next morning

Mariah's Birthday

Mariah turned 5 yesterday! She's so BIG. But not big enough for her. When she got up in the morning we made a big fuss and she she looked down at herself with a puzzled look and a disappointed shrug of her shoulders and said, "I'm still little."

She had a very girly Tangled birthday party with a bunch of her friends and she wore her Rapunzel dress and wig. It was awesome. She had a great time and she is so excited to be 5!

Stitches

I usually leave Liam at home when I take Mariah to dance. But today, Cody and Liam decided to tag along. And now we're regretting it.
While Liam was running around he tripped on the abnormally thick rug and hit his head on the coffee table. i picked him up and turned him around to find blood all over his forehead. We rushed out of dance early and headed for the pediatrician's office.

Cody took some pictures before. Liam was already smiling again before we got to the doctor's office.

It took awhile to numb the area and then they strapped him down, which was very hard to watch because he hated it. When it was all over and they let him out he asked for Mariah (I thought that was sweet).

Here's a shot of his stitches

Liam lately

Liam is pretty insane. He keeps us on our toes and laughing our heads off.
He's talking a ton and is a very good communicator even when he doesn't know the right words.
He speaks in phrases simple sentences now like these:

"uh yiah go? yiah uh ah you?" Where'd Mariah go? Mariah where are you?

"us zat soun?" What's that sound?

He knows the sounds that A B and C make.

He says "hEEEeeeey" when he believes he's been wronged.
He says "I do! I do! I do!" when he wants something (usually food) that someone else has.

He loves trucks, cars, planes, trains...anything like that.

And he is still addicted to his binky. I've been trying to limit his binky use during the day by putting it is his crib. He recently caught on and now sticks his binky down his shirt until he needs it.

He climbs on everything. He's a monkey. I find him on the kitchen table or the counter to snitch a cupcake or whatever treat is up there. He can even climb the ladder to the top of Mariah's loft bed.

He loves making messes. He shakes his bottle around to spill the milk in little droplets on the carpet. He empties out every drawer he can reach. He takes out my cookie sheets and cutting boards and dances on them. And he loves throwing things down the stairs.

And he is Such a tease. He loves to take mariah's toys and run just to laugh at her while she screams. It's kind of a problem though because he also thinks it's funny to hit, scratch, bite, pull hair and throw things at people. He hit me with a little baseball tee the other day and it left a mark. And today he threw a truck at my head and made a bump. He uses anything he can thing of as a sword or a club And he thinks it's hilarious. He just really likes to get a rise out of people...sound like anyone we know?

But of course, he's a very fun and happy boy with a very sweet smile and contagious laugh. We love him to pieces.
